3 Surrey Spots Perfect for a Cuppa

Posted

It's no secret I love a good cuppa... and I certainly like to go and do my 'research' on finding the best cafes, especially in Surrey. So Chloe from the Oak & The Owl and myself have set ourselves a mission to test as many cafes as possible and these our current Top 3... not just for their tea making abilities, these establishments have great staff, tasty cake and they serve a good cuppa.

1. Dabbling Duck, Shere

Famous for hosting the film The Holiday this pretty, quaint village Shere is home to some really impressive new businesses, pop along for a stroll along the stream, a paddle in the ford, working up an appetite for lunch at The Dabbling Duck (known for it’s healthy tasty food, and styled yurt for you to eat in). Afterwards pop into _& Hobbs home wares store, the owner Libby has an refreshing yet calm Scandi style to help you find your Hygge. Do tell her we sent you and say hi for us she's super lovely. Then finish off in the old fashioned sweet shop for one of their waffles, they’ll even furnish you with some pickings for the ducks.

2. Leith Hill Tower

The best spot to park in our experience is in the Rhoderdendrum Woods Car Park and then enjoy the gentle stroll up to the tower, if you’re a National Trust member take your card and you’ll get free entry to go and enjoy the views, if not it’s only £1 per person. Be sure to sample their sausage rolls with your cuppa. If you’re feeling energetic, there’s a scenic 2 hour looped walk (with children in tow) which takes you past Leith Hill Place, which used to be one of the most expensive schools in the county boasting past pupils like Emily Blunt. But perhaps stock up on a freshly cooked biscuit (or two) from the cafe before you set off. Indulge in the views like the one above, you can even see the sea from the top of the tower on a clear day too!

3. The Tan House, Newdigate

A stones throw from Brockham (famous for their fireworks display) sits a family run cafe which rears it’s own produce. Think quiet country lanes, fields for miles, a smattering of cows and the odd tractor. They do a mean gluten free chocolate cake among other freshly baked goods. It’s a popular spot for the local cyclists, but this tends to be mainly at the weekends. You'll be treated with beautiful views of the blooming flower bed and there's even a climbing frame to keep the kids entertained whilst you relax.

7 Plants for Interior Decor Addicts

With the Pantone colour happily on green this year... it's safe to say adding some foliage to your home is the easiest way to play along with this trend. There are some Instagram'ers who in my opinion are nailing this trend at the moment. Take for example the lovely Dee Campling's gorgeous bathroom which has been [...]
